Classical California resident artist and host Lara Downes talks with conductor Thomas Wilkins about their shared experiences and the fluidity of musical styles.  Wilkins, currently the Principal Conductor of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, is known for his diverse musical engagements, from working with bands like Earth, Wind & Fire to classical orchestras. He embraces a broad, flexible approach to music. He is also a dedicated teacher and mentor at the Jacobs School of Music, valuing the learning and growth that comes from engaging with students. The two discuss Wilkins’ philosophy that music leadership should involve humility and an openness to learning.
