“The Producers” Meets the Met!

In a twist worthy of Mel Brooks’ classic tale of crooked producers, a Broadway impresario is being accused of swindling investors out of $165,000 in a scheme that unwittingly involved opera diva-of-divas, Kathleen Battle and the Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o. Roland Scahill has pleaded not guilty to fraud charges brought by seven people who thought they were investing in a play about Battle’s career and her fall from grace. So far there is no such play, although, if you ask me, it would make for a great show!
