KDFC SKY Concert with Lara Downes With special guest Miró Quartet At The Bowes Performing Arts Building in San Francisco, 11th floor February 29, 2024 at 7PM

Our Classical Americana series continues in our amazing 11th floor concert space at the Bowes Performing Arts building. KDFC resident artist and evening host Lara Downes is joined by the Miró Quartet, one of America’s most celebrated string quartets in a new collaboration, Here on Earth.

Here on Earth features musical depictions of our planet earth, its evolution, and the lives of its inhabitants, expressed through music that spans centuries. This mostly All-American program will highlight the Music of Amy Beach, Margaret Bonds, Caroline Shaw, and Darius Milhaud. Another highlight is Bay Area composer Jake Heggie’s Earthrise, reflecting on the fragility of our tiny blue planet from the perspective of the iconic photograph taken from lunar orbit during the 1968 Apollo 8 mission.

Traveling through time and space, the program telescopes in to celebrate the beauties of the natural world and explore our always-changing relationship to this changing earth that is our home.

Join us for a pre-concert wine reception with KDFC staff at 6pm. The concert starts at 7 and then meet the artists after the 1-hour concert.
